Today I rode my motorcycle with Rick Nelson and Dom LoDuca on a loop through southeast Indiana. The sky was overcast all day with occasional light rain. The overcast sky kept us comfortable while wearing our protective gear.
We stopped for a break at Metamora, Indiana, where I made these pictures. Both Rick and I bought some fabulous fudge there. When Rick and Dom got tired of me making pictures,we headed for Oldenburg, Indiana and we experienced serious rain for a few minutes. Our rain gear kept us dry. We found the Brau Haus for fish dinners and German potato salad.
We headed back to Indianapolis on a road running parallel to Interstate 74. At Greenfield, Indiana, I spit off to head due north to home in Fishers, Indiana.
After I left, Rick experienced mechanical problems. In his words, "Sadly my bike experienced an issue after you split off Jim. Just after the I 70 / I 65 split on the near north side of Indy the U-joints on the upper end of the drive shaft self-destructed. I was able to limp/coast off the highway, down a ramp and into a parking lot with Dom following. John from the dealership came and gave me and the bike a ride to the shop, and Dom rode home, then hopped in his Miata and gave me a lift home."
Thankfully, Rick was not hurt.
